Can you play WoW Forever without an edition?

You can play WoW Forever on November 4 without buying an edition. Blizzard's pre-purchase post says a subscription or Game Time includes access, and that the game, including Forever, requires a subscription or Game Time. Skyborne and the Zephras Isle starting questline are not included in that access.12

Blizzard's pre-purchase post says Forever launches globally on November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. PST. "Carve a New Path" uses 3:00 p.m. PDT in one sentence and 3:00 p.m. PST in another for that launch.7 The What Forever is guide keeps both wordings.

The US shop's product requirements say access to Skyborne, or to the Zephras Isle starting questline, requires the Skyborne Heroic Pack or a higher edition.2 High Order Skyborne and Windshaper Skyborne are the two branches. Class combinations are on the races and classes guide.

What are the WoW Forever edition prices?

WoW Forever's digital US prices, from the October 14, 2026 Battle.net Shop archive, are $29.99 for the Skyborne Heroic Pack, $59.99 for the Skyborne Epic Pack, and $79.99 for the Warcraft Forever Collection. The Collector's Edition was $150.00 on the US Gear Store and sold out on October 26. The live shop redirected to a login page that day.23

The digital prices are US dollars from the product page's schema.org offers and the prices in the product selector. Tax and currency can differ.2

What does each WoW Forever edition include?

Every WoW Forever edition from Heroic upward includes Skyborne, the Zephras Isle start, Early Name Reservation, and one set of Heroic cosmetics. Epic and the Collection add 30 days of Game Time from November 4 and three Invite-A-Friend codes. The Collection adds Warcraft III: Reforged and Forsaken Kingdom. The Collector's Edition adds the physical set.213

On the shop, one asterisk means the item works in modern World of Warcraft and in Forever. Two asterisks mean Forever only. None of the included items are available in WoW Classic. Housing decor works only in modern WoW Housing, and Housing requires World of Warcraft: Midnight, sold separately.23

The Cerulean Prideclaw is a ground mount. Blizzard says you still have to buy the riding skill in game before you can use it.1

Skyborne Heroic Pack

The October 14 capture lists it at $29.99. The shop's short description is "Includes Skyborne Race."2

The pre-purchase post's Heroic list is Early Name Reservation, the Cerulean Prideclaw, Shen'dorei Skyseer's Garb, the Veteran Adventurer's Rucksack, the Shen'dorei Windwell toy, Skyborne Housing decor for modern World of Warcraft, and one Invite-A-Friend Launch Code.1 The shop comparison puts the Loyal Companion mount, Outdoor Wear set, pets, tabards, beta access, and 30 days of Game Time on Epic, not on Heroic.2

Skyborne Epic Pack

The same capture lists Epic at $59.99, $30 more than Heroic. The shop describes it as the Heroic Pack, plus beta access, 30 days of game time, and more.2

Epic adds:

  • Beta access. The pre-purchase post said the beta ran from September 17 through October 21, 2026, PST. On October 20, Kaivax posted a planned close of 10:00 a.m. PDT on October 23. On October 23, Kaivax posted that the beta was closed.185
  • 30 days of Game Time, added to the account starting November 4. After that, play needs a subscription or more Game Time, sold separately.1
  • Veteran Adventurer's Loyal Companion, a ground mount, and the Veteran Adventurer's Outdoor Wear transmog set. The shop marks both for modern WoW and Forever.2
  • Zergling, Panda, Diablo, and Pachimari pets, plus Lordaeron and Shen'dorei tabards. The shop marks those Forever only. The Gear Store spells the pet Pachimaru.23
  • Three Invite-A-Friend codes, two more than Heroic.12

Warcraft Forever Collection

The October 14 capture lists the Collection at $79.99, $20 more than Epic. The shop marks it as a limited-time offer: the Epic Pack plus Warcraft III: Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom. The pre-purchase post also includes Warcraft III: Reforged itself, and Forsaken and Human figurine decor for Housing in modern WoW. Blizzard says the Collection is for sale through January 11, 2027.21

The campaign covers the fall of Lordaeron, the founding of the Undercity, and the first Forsaken Paladin. Blizzard also sells that campaign on its own, or in a combo with Reforged. The October 14 Forever shop page does not list a separate US price for the campaign, so the $20 gap is not a discount measured against buying Warcraft III by itself.21

The shop footnotes do not give Heroic or Epic an end date. Only the Collection has one in the sources above.2

What is in the WoW Forever Collector's Edition?

The WoW Forever Collector's Edition is $150.00 on the US Gear Store, and on October 26 the page showed Sold Out. Its digital contents are a Warcraft Forever Collection code, with no disc. The box also holds a statue, a mousepad, prints, pins, and a journal. The Gear Store says the statue is 7.5 inches; Blizzard's news post says 13.34

The US Gear Store price is $150.00. On October 26 the product page showed Sold Out. All sales are final, and the edition is not eligible for returns. The Gear Store limit is one per household, shipping only to select locations in North and South America. The page also limits a household to one beta access code and three Invite-A-Friend codes.3

The digital contents are a Warcraft Forever Collection code: Skyborne Epic Pack, Warcraft III: Reforged, and the Forsaken Kingdom campaign. The code is in a separate envelope in the box. There is no disc. Blizzard's code regions on that page are North America, Latin America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.3

Physical contents listed on the Gear Store:

  • A 7.5-inch Dwarf and Bear statue. The product page calls it a Dwarven hunter and bear. Blizzard's Collector's Edition news post, including the September 24 update, still says a 13-inch Dwarf and Bear statue. The two official pages disagree.34
  • Zephras Isle mousepad, art prints, collectible pins, and a companion journal.34
  • The Gear Store names the prints as Hyjal Summit and the Riverglades, and the pins as an Azeroth compass and the Skyborne Elven Crest.3
  • The box is about 18.3 x 15.2 x 17.2 inches (46.5 x 38.6 x 43.7 cm).3

When does the WoW Forever Collector's Edition restock ship?

WoW Forever Collector's Edition orders placed before September 24 are scheduled to ship in October 2026. Orders placed on or after September 24 are scheduled to ship in February 2027. Blizzard's September 24 update says restock orders are expected to be shipped and delivered in February 2027, after the November 4 launch.34

The Gear Store says orders placed before September 24 are scheduled to ship in October 2026. Orders placed on or after September 24 are scheduled to ship in February 2027.3

Blizzard's September 24 update says additional English copies went on sale, with timing varying by retailer, in North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Orders from that restock are expected to be shipped and delivered in February 2027, after the November 4 launch. The same update says the Gear Store limit is one copy per household.4

The Collector's Edition news post said a beta code would be emailed, with benefits expiring after September 17 through October 21 PDT. The beta closed on October 23.45

Does WoW Forever require a subscription?

WoW Forever requires a subscription or Game Time to play at launch. Heroic does not include 30 days of Game Time. Epic and the Collection add 30 days starting November 4. An Invite-A-Friend code is not Game Time: it covers November 4 through November 11, 2026, without a subscription, and it does not unlock Skyborne.129

  • The Forever posts cited here do not print the subscription price. That price is on the separate Battle.net subscription product, which also redirected to login on October 26.1
  • Heroic does not list 30 days of Game Time. Epic and the Collection do. The days are added starting November 4, not during the beta.12
  • After those 30 days, play needs a subscription or more Game Time.1
  • An Invite-A-Friend code is not Game Time. The indexed text of Blizzard's support article says the invited account can play Forever from November 4 through November 11, 2026, without an active subscription. The live article redirected to login on October 26. A code does not unlock Skyborne or the starting-zone quests, it does not open other versions of World of Warcraft, and it does not include the beta. Codes are not redeemable on an account that already bought a Forever upgrade. Gift orders do not receive codes.91

Blizzard said Invite-A-Friend codes would be emailed beginning October 20, 2026, PST, one code per email if you are owed more than one. It has not published a different delivery time for purchases made after October 20. Upgrading from Heroic to Epic or to the Collection grants two more codes, for three total. Upgrading from Epic to the Collection does not add codes.9

On Reddit, players in r/wow asked whether those 30 days push the next subscription charge out by a month. Commenters said they do, and one said a support ticket confirmed the November 4 start. That billing behavior is a player report. Blizzard's published line is that the 30 days are added starting November 4. The posts above do not state how an existing renewal date moves.101

Who gets WoW Forever Early Name Reservation and beta access?

WoW Forever Early Name Reservation runs October 27 through November 3 for a Heroic, Epic, or Collection pre-purchase, and for a Collector's Edition. Eligible accounts can reserve up to three characters across rulesets. Beta access was included with Epic, the Collection, and a Collector's Edition email code. The beta closed on October 23.625

Early Name Reservation runs October 27 through November 3. Blizzard's name post gives these start times: Europe at 18:00 CET on October 27, North America at 1:00 p.m. PDT on October 27, and Korea and Taiwan at 07:00 local time on October 28.6

Eligible accounts can reserve names for up to three characters total across rulesets. Two characters on a PvP ruleset leave one more, in Normal or Role-Play. Blizzard says that cap applies only during Early Name Reservation. The ruleset differences are on the Legacy and rulesets guide. Names are first-come, first-served, and they are not guaranteed. The benefit stays on the account that bought the upgrade.62

The name post says a pre-purchase of Heroic, Epic, or the Collection includes the reservation window. Its footnote says a World of Warcraft: Forever Digital Upgrade or the Collector's Edition is required. It does not describe a fourth pack on top of those.6 The October 14 shop comparison listed three digital products, not a separate Digital Upgrade SKU.2 WoW Forever name reservation covers how the window works in game.

Beta access was included with Epic, the Collection, and a Collector's Edition code sent by email. The October 14 shop footnote still said the beta ran through October 21, 2026. That capture predates Kaivax's October 20 planned close of 10:00 a.m. PDT on October 23, and the October 23 post that says the beta is closed.2485

Which WoW Forever edition should you buy?

Choose a WoW Forever edition from what you want on November 4. No pack, plus a subscription or Game Time, plays the game without Skyborne. Heroic at $29.99 adds Skyborne and name reservation. Epic at $59.99 adds 30 days of Game Time. The Collection at $79.99 adds Warcraft III. The $150 Collector's Edition was sold out on October 26.123

This is buying guidance from the contents and dates above, not a Blizzard recommendation.

  • No pack. You want Forever without Skyborne. A subscription or Game Time covers launch. You do not get the race, the Zephras Isle starting quests, or Early Name Reservation.
  • Heroic, $29.99. You want Skyborne and you already have Game Time that covers November 4. It is the cheapest listed way to unlock the race and to reserve a name.
  • Epic, $59.99. You want Skyborne and the 30 days of Game Time added on November 4. The extra $30 over Heroic is those 30 days, the Loyal Companion mount, the Outdoor Wear set, four pets and two tabards marked Forever only, and two more invite codes. The beta included with Epic is closed.
  • Collection, $79.99. You also want Warcraft III: Reforged, Forsaken Kingdom, and the two Housing figurines. It stays on sale through January 11, 2027. The extra $20 over Epic is that Warcraft III content and the figurines.
  • Collector's Edition, $150. You want the physical set. The US Gear Store showed it sold out on October 26. An order from the September 24 restock is scheduled to ship in February 2027. Buy a digital pack as well if you need the Skyborne items before that box arrives, and read the Balance-credit terms before you treat the second purchase as money back.34

In mid-September, threads on r/wow and r/wowforever split on the paid race. Some players called a race and starting zone, on top of a subscription, a paywall. Others said Forever itself has no box price and that Skyborne is optional. Those are community opinions. They do not change the shop requirements.1112
