What is the WoW Forever Classic or Enhanced preset?
The WoW Forever preset is a one-time Classic or Enhanced choice on the first login, before the Ruleset. Blizzard's starter guide, published October 28, 2026 at 17:00 UTC (12:00 p.m. CDT, 10:00 a.m. PDT), says to start with Enhanced if you are not sure. Settings can be changed later under Game Menu, then Options. The preset screen does not return.1
If you are not sure which to choose, start with Enhanced.
The starter guide says Forever runs on Windows or Mac with a keyboard and mouse, and that controller support is "in a beta state." The guide prints no launch clock. The Forever overview records both November 4, 2026 clocks Blizzard has published. The starter guide points players to the current system requirements, which are in the system-requirements article.1
How do the Classic and Enhanced presets differ?
Classic and Enhanced in WoW Forever set the starting presentation. Classic starts with Standard Definition models, quest points of interest and objective blobs off, one-bag off, transmog off, camera-turning binds, and the classic UI. Enhanced starts with High Definition models and the opposite of those settings. Blizzard's October 28, 2026 guide lists the six pairs.1
| Option | Classic preset | Enhanced preset |
|---|---|---|
| Character models | Standard Definition models | High Definition models |
| Quest points of interest and objective blobs | Turned off | Turned on |
| One-bag | Turned off | Turned on |
| Transmog | Turned off | Turned on |
| Default keyboard binds | Camera-turning binds | Strafe binds |
| Screen UI | Classic UI | Centralized UI |
Creation can still select High Definition or Standard Definition models on its own. The guide says the model choice is appearance only, and a Barbershop or Options can change the models later.1
Which WoW Forever Rulesets are available at launch?
WoW Forever launches with Normal, PvP, Roleplay, and Roleplay-PvP. Hardcore is planned for later, and the October 28, 2026 starter guide gives Hardcore no date. A character can group, join a guild, enter a dungeon, or raid only with the same Ruleset and the same faction.1
| Ruleset | October 28, 2026 guide | Launch status |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | Adventuring and monsters, with PvP when the player chooses it | At launch |
| PvP | The other faction can attack you through much of the open world | At launch |
| Roleplay | Rules for character names and for how that character is played | At launch |
| Roleplay-PvP | Strict naming rules, and the character is almost always at risk of attack | At launch |
| Hardcore | Death can end that character's journey | Later; the guide gives no date |
The starter guide does not describe a transfer from one Ruleset to another. The same page says, "If you are unsure where to begin, Normal offers a welcoming place to learn." Early Name Reservation, including the three-character cap, is covered in the name-reservation article.1
What does the starter guide say about Skyborne and names?
WoW Forever Skyborne access requires the Heroic Pack or higher, and both branches start on Zephras Isle from level 1 through 12. Horde-aligned Windshaper Skyborne gain
Shaman. Alliance-aligned High Order Skyborne gain
Mage. A character name has two parts, and that combination must be unique in the region.1
The October 28, 2026 guide prints no pack price. US shop prices for the Heroic, Epic, and Collection packs are in the editions article. Class lists for both branches are in the Skyborne article. The starter guide does not rank a leveling class. Beta reports through level 30 most often name
Hunter,
Paladin, and
Warlock in the leveling-class article.
Options, then Nameplates, then My Secondary Name hides the second name on the nameplate. Chat still shows that name.1
How many professions can a WoW Forever character learn?
A WoW Forever character can learn two primary professions plus Cooking, Fishing, and First Aid. Gathering choices are Herbalism, Mining, and Skinning. Crafting choices are Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Leatherworking, and Tailoring. The October 28, 2026 guide says a trainer in a starting area or a major city teaches those professions.1
Escape opens the Game Menu, and Options on that menu holds key bindings and graphics. A question mark over a character means a finished quest can be turned in. Gray-quality items can be sold to a vendor. The October 28, 2026 guide does not print a profession skill cap.1
| Hotkey | What the October 28 guide opens |
|---|---|
| L | Opens the quest log |
| M | Opens the world map |
| P | Opens the spellbook |
| C | Opens the character panel |
| K | Opens professions |
| Escape | Opens the Game Menu, then Options |
Profession pages on this site are in the profession index. The starter guide also sends players who want a group to the official WoW Portal Room on Discord, and it adds no channel names.12
